Funomena, the studio founded by former thatgamecompany dev Robin Hunicke and Martin Middleton, is working in tandem with Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi on a new project, which was discussed briefly during the Horizon indie game press conference at E3 2013.
The game is "about a mayor and deputies," Takahashi explained, and came about from doodles he and his son drew one day over breakfast. Few other details about the game were revealed, but Hunicke said it reminded her of how Takahashi's prior work resonated with her.
"When i played the build, I felt the same way that I felt when I played the Dung Beetle game that became Katamari," Hunicke said.
