Square Enix opens mobile studio in Indonesia

Square Enix announced today the opening of a new Indonesia-based mobile studio, Smileworks, set to develop new titles for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia Symbian devices.

The office houses a staff of 23 made up of three developers previously based in Japan and the remaining 20 from the local region. The studio is headed by Hiroaki Kanamura.

Smileworks aims to create original content and help push forward the Indonesian game development center, said Kanamura at the studio's opening.
