Runescape developer Jagex announced today its appointment of writer and film director Alex de Rakoff as the U.K. studio's new creative director.
While he previously worked with EA on the storyline behind Need for Speed: The Run, de Rakoff is probably best known for his work as writer and director on the Orlando Bloom-led film The Calcium Kid, as well as U.K. gangster flick Dead Man Running starring 50 Cent.
The former film director has been working alongside the Jagex team writing the script for the studio's upcoming Transformers Universe release. He will be serving as a key member of the creative team to lead the direction of both the Transformers title and RuneScape 3.
"Having worked for many years as a writer and director of feature films, music videos and AAA console games I'm really inspired to apply my experience to the media and narratives of large-scale online games," said de Rakoff in a prepared statement. "For me, this space is now the cutting edge of entertainment and there is no better studio to get behind than Jagex. I am delighted to join their fantastic creative team with our collective intention of developing the best online games on the block."
