Assassin's Creed 4 PC version to launch after console copies, next-gen when available

Assassin's Creed 4's Windows PC version will launch "a few weeks after" the game hits consoles, game director Ashraf Ismail told ElderGeekDotCom.

"We're working hard on the PC version," Ismail said. "It's one of the main platforms we've worked on in the office ... For our PC fans, don't worry. The game on PC looks phenomenal."

Previous Assassin's Creed games have seen a similar delay for PC versions.

Ismail added that Assassin's Creed 4's world, which is larger than any previous titles in the franchise, will feature challenge gates to keep players from wandering into areas above their skill level. Players will need to upgrade Edward's skills via a progression system in order to proceed, Ismail said.

Check out the full interview above. Assassin's Creed 4 will be available Oct. 29 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and as a launch title for PS4 and Xbox One.
