MLG Spring Championship begins next week in Anaheim with more than $100K in prizes

Major League Gaming's Spring Championship series run from June 28-30 in Anaheim, Calif., where hundreds of players will compete for more than $100,000 in prizes.

The Spring Championship, which is part of MLG's Pro Circuit, will include Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for Xbox 360, League of Legends and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.

Events include:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 players on will compete for $50,000 in prizes, with $20,000 earmarked for first place. It will feature 128 teams competing in an open bracket, and 12 teams will qualify for the championship bracket, battling the top eight teams from the Winter Championship and four teams from MLG's Championship Bracket Qualifiers.
  • League of Legends teams will compete for $30,000 in prizes, with $20,000 earmarked for the winner of the North American Online Qualifier. The top 12 teams from the beginning 128 will battle the top eight teams from the Winter Championship and four teams from MLG's Championship Qualifiers.
  • StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm players will compete for $25,000 in prizes, with $10,000 going to first place. The competition will include a double-elimination open bracket, and the top 16 players will receive rankings in the World Championship Series, leading up to the WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon.

MLG's live broadcasts and commentary will begin on Friday, June 28 at 8 p.m. ET. Interested viewers can purchase viewing passes at MLG's website for 1080p HD video. Viewing is free up to 720p.
