Sword of the Stars: The Pit, Kerberos Productions' turn-based role-playing game, will receive its first expansion titled MindGames on July 1 for Windows PC across digital distribution platforms.

MindGames will introduce two new playable characters — the Human Psion and the alien Tarka Ranger — and ten new floors of "ancient, evil science," as well as new room types and multi-level biospheres. Along with new traps, weapons, items and recipes, there will be new Psionic enemies to fight using 28 new Psionic Powers. Players will have the ability to bank experience points and spare items from one play session and begin another run of the game using that stored equipment and XP. Finally, an "Infinite Mode" and a new, harder difficulty setting called "Seriously? Mode" will be introduced in the expansion.

The roguelike game was rolled out in February for Windows PC on Steam and GamersGate. From launch, Sword of the Stars: The Pit featured 30 levels and players could choose from three playable characters — a marine, pilot or engineer. The game involves players ultimately excavating an alien facility, "a massive Pit," in the hopes of finding a cure for a deadly plague that is laying waste to the player's world. Sword of the Stars: The Pit is currently $9.99 on Steam and GamersGate.
