The next major update for the PC releases of Minecraft, version 1.6, is available in pre-release form, adding a host of new features that warrant its "Horse Update" nickname.
Minecraft 1.6 will introduce horses, donkeys, mules and, naturally, horse armor. The update also adds leads, carpets, blocks of coal, two types of clay and other new items, as well as couple additional gameplay changes. A high level list of changes and additions coming in 1.6 is available at the official Minecraft website.
Players can also download the new (and required) game launcher for Windows, Mac and Linux from the Minecraft site.
The update will be made officially available on July 1.
Earlier this week, Minecraft surpassed more than 11 million sales on PC.
