Undead Labs open-world zombie survival title, State of Decay, won't release in Australia today on Xbox 360 due to a delay with the Australian Classification Board, according to the developer's official Facebook page.
"We are still waiting for the Australian Ratings Board to certify the game, and unfortunately we have no control over their response time," the statement read. " As soon as we hear, we'll be shipping to you with the next game update. We will not leave you behind if we can help it!"
Under Australia's current classification system, games sold at retail need to be classified by the Australian Classification Board. The country's Federal Parliament only passed legislation to create an R18+ category for video game classification in February of last year. The new Australian classification system came into effect Jan 1, 2013 and now includes an R18+ rating.
State of Decay launched today in North America and Europe on Xbox Live Arcade for $20 (1600 Microsoft Points). A Windows PC version will launch at an unannounced date.
Be sure to read Polygon's State of Decay review where we discuss how the game "takes zombie fiction and open-world games to dark new places."
Polygon reached out to the Australian Classification Board and will update this post when more information is provided.
