Threaks' musical action-adventure, Beatbuddy, renamed Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians, will launch worldwide on Aug. 6 for Windows PC, Mac and Linux, Reverb Publishing announced today.
Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians involves players interacting with and influencing the musical score as they traverse through the game's variety of environments across six worlds. The game centres on a musical creature called Buddy who endeavors to save his musical homeland Symphonia from Prince Maestro's army.
Earlier this month, the German indie studio announced that award-winning writer Rhianna Pratchett will be working with the studio to assist with the game's script and storyline. Prachett is known for her work on titles such as Heavenly Sword, Mirror's Edge, the Overlord series and the recent Tomb Raider reboot.
"Beatbuddy has a compelling cast of characters and we are thrilled to announce the new name and global release date," said Wolf Lang, CEO and Threaks co-founder. "With talent involved like Rhianna Pratchett, who is refining the game's already charming storyline, paired with the music of artists such as Austin Wintory, the game has evolved into a true work of art."
