Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness heading to PS3 on Oct. 8 in US and Sept. 27 in Europe

Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness, Nippon Ichi Software's strategy role playing game, will launch on Oct. 8 in North America and Sept. 27 in Europe for the PlayStation 3, NIS America announced today.

As a direct sequel to the original Disgaea title, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, A Brighter Darkness stars characters from the first instalment of the series: Laharl, Etna, and Flonne. The game features a revamped character and personality creation system, along with dual audio voicing. The new Master and Pupil System allows players to choose the master and the pupil, as well as skills for the characters. New skills and higher weapons can be gained for the pupil through the new system.

Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness also includes an Item World, a battleground where players can power up weapons, items and characters. Players can also manipulate the battle by moving elemental icons called GeoPanels. Additional DLC for the title is planned for release at a later date.

The strategy role playing game first launched in Japan on March 20 for the PlayStation 3. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2003 before receiving ports on the PSP and Nintendo DS. NIS America's Souhei Niikawa, producer of the Disgaea series and president of Nippon Ichi Software, announced last July that Disgaea 5 is in development.
