Metro: Last Light's first downloadable expansion, the Faction Pack, will be released July 16 on Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network, publisher Deep Silver announced today.

The Faction Pack is the first of four planned pieces of downloadable content in Metro: Last Light's season pass, which costs $15. By itself, the DLC will cost $4.99 in North America, £3.99 in the U.K. and €4.99 in Europe on PC and PS3, and 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360. PSN users outside of North America will have to wait until July 17.

Last Light developer 4A Games originally planned to release the Faction Pack in June, but delayed it due to "some challenges" in development. The expansion contains three new single-player missions, each of which puts players in the shoes of a specialist from one of the game's factions: the Red Line, Fourth Reich and Rangers. The missions bring players back to some locations from the previous game in the series, 2010's Metro 2033. 4A Games is also teasing the return of a "fan-favorite mutant foe."

The studio plans to launch the next three DLC packs in the season pass within two months of the release of the Faction Pack. The Tower Pack will offer a challenge-based mode with online leaderboards to see who can survive the combat simulator called The Tower. The Developer Pack will include a new single-player mission, "The Spiders' Nest," along with three areas: the Shooting Gallery, AI Arena and Metro Museum. And the Chronicles Pack will take players through side stories featuring three notable characters: Pavel, Khan and Anna.
