Rambo: The Video Game is packed with bloody explosions and throat slicing

A reveal trailer for the video game adaptation of Sylvester Stallone's famous action film series shows main character John Rambo killing many, many people.

The video game follows Rambo through the first three films: First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part 2, and Rambo 3. In the first film, the shell-shocked veteran Rambo is hunted by an overzealous and abusive sheriff in the woods of Washington state. In the second, he is sent to rescue POWs remaining in Vietnam, and in the third he fights Soviet forces in Afghanistan.

Interestingly, while Stallone's character went out of his way to try and avoid killing the U.S. deputies hunting him in the first movie, the game's trailer shows him outright slashing one of their throats.

Rambo: The Video Game is planned for a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC release. No date has been announced.
