The 2013 Freeplay Independent Games Festival, an annual event celebrating independent developers, will be held Sept. 28-29 at the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, organizers announced.
The festival's theme this year will be "Volume of Revolution," which organizers say "seeks to expose, radically upend, celebrate, critically examine and change our approach to making games." First-time festival directors Katie Williams and Harry Lee hope to use the theme to usher "in a new generation of thought in the areas of both the Australian and international games development scenes."
The 2013 Freeplay Independent Games Festival will feature workshops, games from local developers and Freeplay Awards finalists. Organizers also announced the NowPlay Mentorship program, the winner of which will be selected announced during this year's conference and receive advice and feedback on their game.
