Martial arts-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game Age of Wushu will be adapted into a feature film, China-based developer Snail Games announced today.
Age of Wushu prominently features elements of Chinese lore and focuses on martial arts combat. The game allows players to explore a fantasy version of ancient China and includes real landmarks important to the country's history.
Snail Games said in a statement the company will share further details on the film adaptation at a later time.
The developer is also planning to bring Age of Wushu, currently available on Windows PC, to additional platforms in the future. The company announced they will publish the title to consoles and mobile, with more details to come at a later date.
"The Age of Wushu game looks and plays like a major martial arts motion picture so bringing the property to movie screens is a logical evolution," said Snail Games founder and chairman Shi Hai in a press statement. "Our goal has always been for the property to reach the widest audience so evolving to a feature film and expanding the experience to consoles and mobile devices continues our plan."
Age of Wushu launched as free-to-play on April 10. It's first expansion, Legends of Mount Hua, will be released on Aug. 8.
