Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day combines manga and sidescrolling action in new trailer

Namco Bandai has released a trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 3 sidescrolling game Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day, offering a closer look at the gameplay inspired by Katsuhiro Otomo's 1979 manga title Short Peace.

The title follows a schoolgirl assassin whose take-downs result in an explosion of colors and shapes. Beyond its origins in Manga, it was previously reported the game will be connected to an upcoming animated film that consists of four short films by different directors. The game will be the fifth and final part of the story, written at Grasshopper Studios, with Goichi "Suda 51" Suda creating its main scenario.

While there is no current release date for the game, the film version of Short Peace is scheduled to hit Japan on July 20. No word on a North American release just yet.
