Two League of Legends teams have partnered with eBay to run a tournament that will raise money for a charity of the winner's choosing, the eBay Charity Invitational.
According to the event page, members of League of Legends teams Evil Geniuses and Team Curse will compete in one-on-one matches, with each player fighting to earn money for their charity of choice. The tournament will take place on Wednesday, July 24 at 8 p.m. ET and will be livestreamed on Twitch by One Nation of Gamers.
The event will feature auctions on PC gaming equipment and collectibles from past eSports events, including signed team jerseys. Additionally, eBay has pledged a $5,000 donation if the event brings new activity and listings to the auction website's new "My Gadgets" feature, which lets users track how much their electronics are worth and helps sell them at a good price. For every item tournament viewers list on "My Gadgets," eBay has promised to add $0.50 to the prize pool on top of its $5,000 pledge. All sales during the event's auctions will also be added to the charity pool.
The charity that will receive the donations will be determined by the eBay Charity Invitational overall winner.
A listing of auction items and which charities each player is competing for can be found on the event's website.
