Take On Mars gameplay trailer explores the Red Planet

A new trailer for Bohemia Interactive's Mars exploration sim Take On Mars shows players designing, deploying and controlling their very own Martian rovers.

Take On Mars aims for realism and a sense of authenticity, tasking players to assess chemical compositions or retrieve soil samples to see if Mars could support life in the same way actual Mars missions do. Similarly, when a player's Mars rover becomes damaged as seen in the trailer, the mission is over and considered a failure.

"Lots of people have asked, 'Why this? It's doesn't seem like it would be very popular or appeal to many people,'" project lead Martin Melicharek told Polygon at last month's E3 conference, "but I think it's something on its own. Anyone who is interested in Mars will find this interesting."

Take On Mars is expected to launch later this month.
