Accessory manufacturer Performance Designed Products (PDP) experienced a round of layoffs this week as part of a reorganization plan, president and CEO Chris Richards confirmed to Polygon.
PDP creates peripherals like its Rock Candy controllers and earbuds. Earlier this year, PDP confirmed to Polygon that it would be an accessory maker for Disney Infinity, Avalanche Software's video game/action figure mashup coming later this year.
This week's layoffs are part of a company-wide organization, according to the president and CEO.
"Earlier this week PDP went through a reorganization with an aim of further enhancing product development and improving our distribution channel to our retail and OEM customers," Richards told Polygon. "Unfortunately we had to let a few good people go in areas of the business that didn't align with our primary objectives. We are excited for the future and plan to continue our growth in video game accessories, building on our core brands of Afterglow and Rock Candy, coupled with the brands from our licensed partners."
News of the layoffs surfaced on the Shoruyken forums yesterday. PDP is a sponsor of competitive gaming's Team Afterglow Elite.
