Plants vs. Zombies Mega Munnys infest Comic-Con, up for auction

PopCap Games' booth at this year's San Diego Comic-Con displayed an impressive and sizable collection of Plants vs. Zombies-inspired vinyl toys; interpretations, ranging from the recognizable and straightforward to the bizarre, of the game's sundry undead characters.

The two dozen Munnys, custom 18-inch versions of Kidrobot's signature vinyl character, were painted and sculpted by a wide variety of artists, including talent from within PopCap, Double Fine Productions, Twisted Pixel and EA developer DICE, as well as graffiti artists and toy designers. The one-of-a-kind pieces include zombified versions of Mirror's Edge star Faith and Mass Effect's Commander Shepard, with some Munnys integrating props like sauce pans and plastic nunchaku.

The 24 vinyl toys will be on display at Comic-Con this week, then go up for auction on Monday, July 22 through eBay Giving Works. Mega Munnys retail for $250, and bidding for the Plants vs. Zombies-inspired creations will open at $100. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Child's Play charity.
