Drakengard 3 Japanese-language trailer introduces protagonist Zero and shows off gameplay

A new Japanese-language trailer for Access Games' upcoming action role-playing game, Drakengard 3, introduces the game's story and main characters, along with a smattering of hack-and-slash gameplay.

Drakengard 3 centers on flower-eyed protagonist Zero, who can manipulate magic by singing, and her younger sister called One. According to game designer Taro Yoko, the latest iteration in the franchise is aimed at new players; however, Drakengard fans will also be able to enjoy it.

Drakengard 3 was confirmed by Square Enix in March and the game's development involves several core Drakengard and Nier developers, such as producer Takamasa Shiba, director/writer Taro Yoko, character designer Kimihiko Fujisaka and music composer Keiichi Okabe.

Square Enix revealed last week that the game will launch in Japan on Oct. 31 for the PlayStation 3. A 10th Anniversary Commemoration Box for ¥19,800 (approximately $202.50 USD) — consisting of a Drakengard Novel Prelude, DLC code, an illustration drawn by Kimihiko Fujisaka, Blu-ray, a Drakengard World Inside book and a soundtrack — is also available in the region. Polygon reached out to Square Enix about a possible Western release for Drakengard 3.
