Age of Wushu adding castration mechanic

Chinese MMO Age of Wushu features an unusual new mechanic, designed to allow entrance to a clan of war-like eunuchs.

In the free-to-play game, unwary male players are ambushed by members of the evil-aligned Rootless Clan, and forcibly castrated. The gang forms a party of five and then begins the operation, which is said by publisher Snail Games to have a low success rate.

"If it is unsuccessful, the victim will still sustain significant damage," according to MMO Culture, which published a developer-demo of the mechanic, as well as details on how it will be effected in a new update to the game. Castrated characters are invited to join the Rootless Clan which will only seek out players of a certain skill-level.
