Mel Gibson originally took the lead role in the Mad Max film franchise, but now his own brother Donal is expressing interest in taking on the mantle in Avalanche Studios' video game adaptation.
Cult director Jamie Blanks, known best for the slasher flick Urban Legend, and Donal Gibson contacted AusGamers yesterday, suggesting Gibson take on the role for the lead in the upcoming game. An audio demo of Donal is available right here.
Donal Gibson has previously acted in a number of small roles in his brother's films. He's also tried his hand in the voice acting world with roles as Captain John Smith in Disney's Pocahontas 2: Journey to a New World and Captain Boomerang in cartoon series Justice League Unlimited.
Avalanche Studios has yet to give any official word on casting decisions at this point; however, We've contacted the studio for comment regarding Donal Gibson's interest.
Mad Max will be available in 2014 on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is an open-world third-person action title in which players take on the role of Max himself, trying to survive in The Wasteland against roving gangs of bandits. He'll use both typical action combat and vehicular combat.
