PlanetSide 2 Player Studio now available to create in-game items

Sony Online Entertainment's Player Studio, the program that allows players to create and sell in-game items, is now available for PlanetSide 2, the publisher announced today.

The company launched the Player Studio last year for EverQuest, EverQuest 2 and Free Realms. For now, the PlanetSide 2 Player Studio is open only to U.S.-based players.

Users can download sample geometry files for items such as decals, hood ornaments and helmets, and import them into software like Maya and Photoshop to understand how to create them. Then they can present their own submissions to Sony Online for approval. Creators will get 40 percent of the revenue — in real money — from sales of their items on the SOE Marketplace.

PlanetSide 2 launched on Windows PC last November and will be released on PlayStation 4 later this year.
