Nintendo announces new Chibi-Robo photography game for 3DS

During a surprise Nintendo Direct presentation today, Nintendo announced a new augmented reality photography game for 3DS systems: Chibi-Robo Photography.

You may remember Chibi-Robo as an original GameCube title that launched in 2006 in North America. Unlike the original platformer-adventure game, the new 3DS release has players tasked with finding certain shapes in the real-world then use the system's augmented reality feature snap photos with Chibi-Robo appearing in the frame.

The game is currently available in Japan as an eShop release. No North American release date has been announced; however, considering all later installments in the series' were Japan exclusives, including Nintendo DS releases Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol and Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richi Osoji! it's unlikely we'll see the game hit Western shores any time soon.
