A worldwide Halo 4 tournament is set to launch over the summer, comprising live and online events, with a first prize of $200,000 awarded to the winner.
Halo 4 developer 343 Industries, Microsoft and Virgin Gaming are organizing the contest, which is offering up a total of $500,000 in prizes. 'The Halo 4 Global Championship' comprises a series of live-events, starting at this weekend's Rooster Teeth Expo in Austin, TX, as well as play-offs on Xbox Live, beginning July 15.
According to the online competition rules, players will need to register for the contest, and complete a minimum of 20 matches in the tournament playlist per week. "At the end of each week the players with the top four average scores will be deemed winners and be eligible to compete in the finals," state the rules. "Additionally, each week qualifying players will have a chance to randomly win special prizes."
