Microsoft begins beta registration for 2013 Xbox 360 dashboard update

Microsoft has begun public beta registration for its 2013 Xbox Live dashboard update, Major Nelson announced today.

The beta allows successful applicants to test out the newest Xbox 360 update prior to its public release. The new update is said to boost the console's overall performance and switch the Marketplace currency from MS Points to real-world money.

Those interested can apply through the Xbox Beta Program which can currently be found on the Xbox 360 dashboard; however, the beta will be closed to the public once the limited spots are filled.

Microsoft has yet to announce a date for when the beta is scheduled to launch and when the dashboard update will be made available to the public.

Update: Microsoft has posted an FAQ concerning the beta registration.
