Wii Karaoke U by Joysound, an application that allows the Wii U GamePad to double as a microphone and music catalogue, will launch this year in Europe, Nintendo announced.
The app will be available as a free download through the Nintendo eShop, though players will need to purchase a ticket to use it for one hour, one day or 30 days. Users will be able to stream songs from a library of karaoke tunes through several different modes. In addition to a regular karaoke mode, users can test their vocal prowess by trying to hit specific notes, receive a performance analysis and compete online via leaderboards.
A specific launch date and prices have not yet been announced. Wii Karaoke U by Joysound was announced for Japanese consoles last year. The app features more than 90,000 songs and Mii customization options.
