Suda 51 and Akira creator team up on video game conclusion to film

Grasshopper Manufacture's Goichi "Suda 51" Suda and Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo teamed up with publisher Namco Bandai to create a game that will be the conclusion to Otomo's upcoming film Short Peace, Game Nyarth reports.

Several Japanese magazines report the game, Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day, will be a "high-speed action" 2D side-scroller for PlayStation 3. The game will be connected to Short Peace, an upcoming animated film under Otomo's direction. Short Peace consists of four short films, each part telling a different story and under a different director.

Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day will be the fifth and final part of the story. The game is being written at Grasshopper, with Suda writing the main scenario, and is under the direction ofYohei Kataoka, president at Tokyo Jungle developer Crispy's.

Short Peace hits Japanese theaters July 20. Currently there is no set release date for Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day.
