Galactic Reign, the turn-based space strategy game from developer Slant Six Games for Windows 8, Windows Phone and Windows RT, will be removed from the Windows Store on Aug. 15 in advance of the game's shutdown later this year, according to an announcement posted on the Xbox Forums.
"We are proud of the game we created and are thankful to our passionate community," the announcement reads. "We hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out Galactic Reign and will continue to do so until the end of this year."
The Windows-exclusive game will be permanently shut down on Dec. 31, 2013 and its servers taken offline. Galactic Reign was released in March.
Galactic Reign was one of a handful of titles developed by Vancouver-based Slant Six (Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, SOCOM Confrontation) as part of a shift in focus to mobile and tablet platforms. Slant Six's Bowling of the Dead was published by Activision last year and the studio self-published Max's Pirate Planet - A Board Game Adventure earlier this year.
Slant Six Games was hit with "temporary layoffs" in April.
