A demo for NHL 14 is headed to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America Aug. 20, according to a post on the EA Sports blog today.
The demo will arrive in Europe Aug. 20 on Xbox Live and Aug. 21 on PlayStation Network, EA announced in a separate press release.
NHL 14's demo will include NHL '94 Anniversary Mode, which was announced in June and brings back the blue ice and overhead camera of NHL '94. Players will begin in the third period of a game where they can play as the Boston Bruins or Chicago Blackhawks.
Downloaders will also be able to take the ice in the current version of NHL 14, in the same period and with the same teams as above. In Hockey Ultimate Team mode, players will be able to participate in a mini tournament between the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Grand Rapids Griffins and Halifax Mooseheads. Each win will net players items that can be used in the retail version of NHL 14.
NHL 14 is set for a Sept. 10 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and you can check out the new trailer above to see the game in action. For more on what's in store in this year's installment of the long-running hockey franchise, check out Polygon's interview with the developers.
