Assassin's Creed 4 video walks through the art of sneaking and stealth

A new gameplay video for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag features game director Ashraf Ismail walking the viewer through some of the game's stealth mechanics.

On the hunt for a Templar weapons dealer, Edward Kenway makes a stop to check out an underwater cave, using a diving bell to head to the ocean floor. When exploring underwater caves, Edward can't bring his weapons or tools, meaning he must use stealth to pick off enemies one by one and take their weapons.

The town of Havana is a Spanish town, and the developers consciously modeled it after the cities in the acclaimed Assassin's Creed 2 as an homage and throwback. There, Edward takes a side contract to kill a man without being detected, and snipes an explosive barrel beside him from a distance to finish the job.

The final part of the video shows off some of the game's jungle and new tools like the berserk dart that help Edward reach his quarry without raising the alarm.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag hits Xbox 360, Wii U and PlayStation 3 on Oct. 29, with the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions coming at a currently-unannounced date.
