Contrast trailer jazzes up a girl's imaginary shadow-shifting friend

In a new trailer for Compulsion Games' puzzle-platformer Contrast, a little girl hopes to see her parents together again.

Didi's father left her and her mother when she was smaller, and she dreams of meeting him again. To help combat her loneliness is her imaginary friend Dawn, a a woman in vaguely vaudevillian makeup who can appear as shadows on the wall if she chooses.

Players take on the role of Dawn as she tries to help Didi "explore an adult world through the eyes of a little girl." Studio head Guillaume Provost told Polygon that the game was inspired by the Portal titles as well as Guillermo del Toro's film Pan's Labyrinth.

Contrast is expected to hit Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by the end of the year.
