Halo 4 update tweaks playlists, adds Spartan Ops missions to matchmaking

An upcoming update slated to hit Halo 4 on Monday will make tweaks to the Rumble Pit playlist and add five Spartan Ops missions to matchmaking, according to a blog post on Halo Waypoint.

In matchmaking, the Rumble Pit playlist will again be installed at the premiere offering for Free-for-All matches. Developer 343 Industries has also made a few tweaks based on player feedback: Rumble Pit will get 15 new voting options including new Slayer and game objective types, such as King of the Hill and Oddball. The Regicide type will also now be an exclusive of the Rumble Pit playlist.

Five Slayer and game types featured in the Halo 4 Global Championship playlist — Abandon King of the Hill, Haven Oddball, Landfall King of the Hill Simplex Rumble BRs and Skyline Rumble BRs — have also been added to Rumble Pit.

A handful of Spartan Ops missions have also been added to matchmaking:

  • Episode 1, Chapter 3: The Challenge
  • Episode 1, Chapter 4: Sacred
  • Episode 2, Chapter 5: Gagarin
  • Episode 5, Chapter 1: Spartan Miller
  • Episode 5, Chapter 2: Nothing Can Go Wrong

Players can now choose two new armor mods: Recharge, which shortens shield recharge time, and Survivor, which will automatically eject players from vehicles that are about to explode. The Crimson DLC pack will also be removed to prepare the game for the Champions Bundle to launch on Tuesday.
