A new video for Total War: Rome 2, The Creative Assembly's upcoming strategy game set in classical antiquity, sheds new light on naval tactics and units.
According to the video, ramming is a key part of naval battles. It provides fast and heavy hull damage to enemies and can even rip smaller ships apart. Additionally, ramming into ships enables units to board and attack. Long distance units can also provide support from far away with arrow fire.
Rome 2 players will have access to a variety of vessels with different capabilities. The Mediterranean ships featured in the video are fast moving and meant for assault. These units come loaded with fire pots that explode when players knock into enemies.
Total War: Rome 2 launches Sept. 3 for Windows PC. For more on the game, check out our interview with studio communications manager Al Bickham on how fear and loyalty will play a massive role in battle.
