Awesomenauts developer turns to Kickstarter to fund expansion

Awesomenauts looking to expand

Ronimo Games, the studio behind the 2D battle arena game Awesomenauts, launched a Kickstarter campaign today to raise funds for a game expansion — Awesomenauts: Starstorm.

The developer is hoping to raise $125,000 to add more characters, game modes and features to Awesomenauts — features that cannot be added to Awesomenauts in its current form.

"We have done all that can be done within the current confinements of the game," the studio wrote on its Kickstarter page. "In order to truly bring Awesomenauts to the next level, we would like to add features that require much more time and effort than we have currently allocated for it.

"You, our community, have already been so involved in the shaping of Awesomenauts into what it is today, and now you can help us take it to the next step. Help us fund Awesomenauts: Starstorm!"

If the campaign reaches its funding goal, the studio will add new characters like Ted McPain, Sentry X-58 and Skree. It will also add features like a spectator mode, global chat, twin-stick controller support and new music. The campaign also lists stretch goals like a level editor, Steam workshop integration, a character settings editor and an AI editor. The studio has plans to bring Awesomenauts: Starstorm to the PlayStation 4 as paid downloadable content.

At the time of writing, the Kickstarter campaign has raised $9,000, with 29 days to go.
