Ace Combat Infinity is a free-to-play exclusive on PS3

Namco Bandai confirms Ace Combat Infinity will be exclusive to PlayStation 3 consoles and will be free-to-play.

This follows last month's announcement from developer Project Aces of the new entry in the flight simulation series. Ace Combat Infinity takes place in the near future and includes solo missions and up to four-player multiplayer that pits two teams of two players against one enemy to inflict the most damage.

"The Ace Combat franchise has evolved dramatically over the years, but never before have we been able to offer its amazing graphics and tactical action for free," Nambo Bandai Europe's senior vice president Olivier Comte said in a prepared statement. "The team at Project Aces listens very carefully to its players, and is bringing the best the series has to offer to Ace Combat Infinity, with plenty of new surprises too."

Ace Combat Infinity will launch later this year.
