The present day is futuristic in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag includes segments that take place in the present, and as seen in four new screenshots from publisher Ubisoft, the game's present is actually pretty futuristic.

Players will explore the modern world as a new employee of Abstergo, the corporation that is the antagonist of the Assassin's Creed series. The story of Desmond Miles, the modern descendant of the assassins from the previous entries in the franchise, ended last year in Assassin's Creed 3. And the present-day sections of Black Flag are played from a first-person perspective, Digital Trends reported last month.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be released Oct. 29 on Windows PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions launching with those consoles.
