Arrowhead Studios, the developer behind Magicka, will release a new game called Helldivers for exclusively PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, Sony announced at its Gamescom 2013 press conference.
Helldivers is set in a dystopian future where players must protect "Super Earth," a world where the lines between democracy and military and government rule are blurred. The Helldivers are a special squad assembled to defend against invaders.
The game is a cooperative squad-based shooter and will feature cross-platform play. The trailer showed four characters making their way through a strange, rocky area while blasting away enemies. Helldivers will support two-to-four players with local and on-line co-op. It will also include mechanics such as friendly fire, and players must communicate in order to achieve their goals.
