New Shadow of the Beast coming to exclusively to PS4

A modern day update to Reflections Interactive and Psygnosis' side-scrolling adventure classic Shadow of the Beast will come exclusively to PlayStation 4, Sony Computer Entertainment announced today.

Players will battle on the alien world of Karamoon in their quest to overthrow the tyrant Maletoth, fighting hordes of enemies "in ferocious adrenaline-fueled combat, unlocking increasingly brutal moves as you draw power from the blood of your enemies," reads an announcement. Players will be able to "discover the souls of other players and summon them to fight" at their side or help them unlock new locations in Shadow of the Beast.

The downloadable game is being developed by Heavy Spectrum Entertainment Labs, which has published Bullion Blitz and Puzziball for PlayStation Mobile.

Sony showed a brief trailer for the new Shadow of the Beast, which appeared to adhere to certain aesthetics from the original.

Shadow of the Beast was first released in 1989 for the Commodore Amiga, but later came to many other platforms. The game spawned two sequels.
