CCP's Oculus Rift space dogfighting tech demo, previously known as Eve-VR, has been given a full go-ahead and is scheduled to launch as Eve: Valkyrie in 2014.
Originally knocked together in seven weeks, as a tech demo for Eve Online community event Fanfest 2013, the 360 degree fighting game is now being handled by CCP's Newcastle, England team, according to IGN, with the Icelandic team who created the demo relocating to take care of the project.
"From the moment this year's Fanfest attendees first got their hands on Eve-VR, the question has been asking, when can I have this?" said CCP's boss Hilmar Petursson. "What started as a passion project by a small, incredibly talented group of CCP developers became one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, before we even announced it. We have big plans for Eve: Valkyrie and I can't wait to share more details later this year."
