Activision is offering customers who purchase Call of Duty: Ghosts on PlayStation 3 to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version of the game for $10, the company announced today.
CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, said in a statement that the promotion and other deals is to make the next-generation transition "as seamless and easy" for Call of Duty fans as possible, saying that "there's more news to come on that front." Earlier this month, it was announced that Call of Duty: Ghosts' downloadable content will transfer to next-gen consoles for those who buy the game's Season Pass.
Amazon and GameStop customers can purchase Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox 360 and upgrade it later for an Xbox One version. GameStop's program offers a $50 trade-in credit for select Xbox 360 games when PowerUp Rewards members upgrade to the Xbox One versions. Other participating titles include Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25. Amazon grants customers a $9.99 trade-in for upgrading Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and FIFA 14, as well as Ghosts.
It was revealed during Microsoft's GamesCom press conference that Call of Duty: Ghosts will use the Xbox One's cloud service to host dedicated servers.
