Grand Theft Auto 5 digital PS3 pre-orders open, opening to Europe this Friday

Pre-orders for the Day One digital version of Grand Theft Auto 5 for PlayStation 3 are now open for those in North America and Latin America, Rockstar announced, revealing that pre-orders will open to those in Europe this Friday.

Fans who pre-order the digital version will be granted access to the in-game Atomic Blimp to pilot — also available with Standard Edition physical pre-orders — along with an exclusive PlayStation 3 theme and 75 percent off on any Rockstar full game title on the PlayStation Network. Interested parties can pre-order Grand Theft Auto 5 on PSN under the pre-orders section of the PlayStation Store.

According to Rockstar, the ability to pre-order digital titles or purchase them on launch day on Xbox Live via the Xbox 360 Games on Demand service is not possible. The company notes that it will release Grand Theft Auto 5 on Games on Demand "as soon as it's technically feasible and permitted by Microsoft."

GTA 5 launches on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Sept. 17.
