Team Ninja's forthcoming update to its venerable fighting game franchise, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, will add the option for two-on-two tag battles in online multiplayer, a mode the developer also promises will be smoother and have shortened wait times when finding matches.
The Ultimate version of Dead or Alive 5 will also feature an online ranking system for two-on-two tag battles, and players will be able to score Grade Points in those battles that count toward costume unlocks. Publisher Tecmo Koei promises 231 costumes in DOA 5 Ultimate. Grade Points can also be earned through a new Prize Fighter ranking, which rewards players for winning consecutive online ranked battles.
Ultimate also introduces a Character Points system, which displays a player's skill level with each character from DOA 5 Ultimate's expanded roster. The game includes Leon and Ein from previous Dead or Alive games, Rachel and Momiji from Ninja Gaiden and Jacky Bryant from Virtua Fighter.
