Insurgency 2 now in beta, 50 percent off Steam Early Access

New World Interactive's Insurgency 2, the sequel to the free-to-play Source mod Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat, beta is now live, with Steam Early Access keys currently 50 percent off.

For the next 37 hours, at the time of writing, Early Access is $9.99 (normally $19.99) and the Insurgency four-pack is $29.99 (usually $59.99). Early Access unlocks the beta, the opportunity to play with the developers and the full game when it releases this year for Windows PC and Mac. A Linux version is expected at a later date.

The beta release includes new weapons, updated level designs for all maps, new squad systems, player classes, equipment customization and respective user interface. The developers today also released hotfixes for the game — which went into pre-beta testing March — that introduces bug fixes, Kit Selection tweaks, changes to how reloading affects player speed and more.

For more information about the game, don't miss out on our preview where we spoke with NWI's Andrew Spearin. The developer spent five years in the Canadian Army Reserve and set out to make a game that reflects actual infantry operations accurately.
