The full-length Gran Turismo movie will life the of the life story of Lucas Ordonez, Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi told Destructoid at Gamescom.
Ordonez is a gamer who got his start in the racing profession from playing the video game series.
According to Yamauchi, they had been turning down movie offers from studios for the past seven years, up until filmmakers Mike de Luca and Dana Brunetti pitched their story based on Ordonez. Yamauchi told Joystiq that "he envisions" the movie beginning with a mother worrying over her video game-obsessed son, who ends up turning into a professional racing champ by the film's conclusion.
Sony confirmed the development of the movie inspired by the Gran Turismo franchise and the GT Academy during its Gamescom press conference this week. Yamauchi will consult on the film's production.
Gran Turismo 6 is slated to launch on PlayStation 3 worldwide on Dec. 6.
