The music of Grand Theft Auto 5's radio stations may have leaked ahead of schedule, according to an ongoing post on the unofficial GTA Forums, revealing a varied mix of pop, classic hip-hop, punk rock, soul and classic rock tunes.
The source of that alleged leak are the preloaded files of Grand Theft Auto 5 itself. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners who pre-purchased the downloadable version of the game through Sony and Microsoft's online stores have been able to download the game files ahead of the game's release. Naturally, curious GTA fans have mined those game files for details, revealing allegedly more than 20 hours worth of audio files.
GTA 5's music draws from a long list of popular artists, including Britney Spears, Snoop Dogg, Waylon Jennings, Queen, Rihanna, Def Leppard, Outkast, Muse and many more, according to members of the GTA Forums. Those artists are featured alongside the likes of Aphex Twin, Black Flag, Pulp, The Circle Jerks and other artists who typically garner less radio airplay. The list is, as expected, huge.
Radio tracks unearthed by fans are being collected in this Reddit thread for easier viewing.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Sept. 17. Given the availability of game files through PSN and Xbox Live, additional information leaks (and early spoilers) won't be surprising.
