The Xbox One’s controller design explained

A new video from Microsoft details several design choices and how the controller works with the system's Kinect.

Lead designer Quintin Morris said the controller has been in development for almost two years. To connect the controller with the system's Kinect, players only need to hit the "bind button" while in view. Once linked, the Kinect will automatically be able to detect if players pass the controller around.

Design changes from the Xbox 360 controller to the Xbox One controller are numerous, but include a smaller thumbstick and reduced button spacing. Xbox One's controller is also "twice as sensitive," he added.

"Using this controller, without changing the way you game, you'll be a faster, better gamer," Morris said.
