Awesomenauts Starstorm expansion funded on Kickstarter

Ronimo Games' Kickstarter project to create the Awesomenauts expansion Starstorm surpassed its crowdfunding goal about a week into the campaign.

As of this writing, the campaign has $130,031 in pledges from 2,621 backers. The funding goal was set at $125,000 when the project launched in mid-August.

"Hell yeah!" co-founder Olivier Thijssen wrote on the Kickstarter blog. "We've reached the primary goal of $125,000 within seven days! This means we will start working on Ted mcPain, Sentry & Skree, Global chat, twin-stick support, new music and spectator mode. We invite you to keep sharing your thoughts and feedback with us as we start to develop Starstorm!"

The developer will launch PayPal funding for the expansion, with details to follow on Ronimo Games' various social network channels, Thijssen wrote.

With 23 days remaining before the Kickstarter project ends Sept. 18, 2013, pledgers still have the opportunity to fund Ronimo Games' stretch goals, which begin at $200,000 and will add a new map and music. Further stretch goals add custom games at $270,000, replays and infinite spectator mode at $380,000, a new character and more music at $415,000, a level editor and Steam Workshop integration at $495,000, another new character and music at $530,000, a character settings editor at $580,000 and an AI editor at $630,000.

Awesomenauts' Starstorm expansion is estimated to be released in beta form for Linux, Mac and Windows PC "around October," according to the Kickstarter page.
