Sony confirms PlayStation 4 party chat works with PS Vita

Sony's worldwide studios head Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that PlayStation 4 will support cross-platform party chat.

In a Twitter conversation, Yoshida replied "yes," to the question of whether or not a PlayStation 4 player can invite a PS Vita-owning friend to its free party chat service.

In recent months, Sony has placed much emphasis on PlayStation Vita's cross-platform utility with the company's new console, through services like Remote Play, which allow PlayStation 4 players to continue their gaming sessions using the PS Vita screen, to encouraging indie developers to create games for both its platforms.

Last week at Gamescom, Sony announced a release date for PlayStation 4, and cut the price of Vita to $199.
