The Wind Waker HD hits Wii U Oct. 4 in North America

Tucked into a press release about the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses concert tour coming to Seattle was confirmation from Nintendo of America on The Wind Waker HD's release date: Friday, Oct. 4.

Nintendo had previously announced the The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD's release date in Europe — also Oct. 4 — and in Japan — Sept. 26 — but had offered a less specific date stateside. The Wii U remake of the Nintendo GameCube adventure game will arrive later this year with a few tweaks, including the option for faster sailing with the Swift Sail, a shortened Triforce Quest and the option to play a more challenging Hero Mode from the start of the game.

The release of The Wind Waker HD is also rumored to bring with it some Zelda-themed Wii U hardware.
